CWA - IBEW - Avaya

Academic Awards Program

The application period for the year 2006 CWA/IBEW/Avaya Academic Awards Program is now open. Attached is the application that contains information regarding the program and the application process. It may be reproduced and distributed to the membership. Information on how to obtain additional copies of the application can be found on here.

Completed applications must be postmarked no later than December 31, 2005. Only calendar year 2006 applications will be accepted, so if you have any left from last year, please destroy them.

This is an excellent bargained-for benefit that provides for 10 Avaya scholarships of up to $6,500.00 annually, renewable three times. In order to be eligible, high school seniors must have a minimum of a 3.25 GPA on a 4.0 scale and have participated in community or school volunteer activities. Please note the importance of the volunteer service portion on this application. Since the majority of applicants will have high GPA's, the next determining factor for successful candidates usually is volunteer service.

Summer school is IN!

CWA/NETT Academy, CWA’s technical training program online at www.cwanett.org
July 25 begins our late summer semester.  The registration deadline is JULY 20 - so it's time to get ready to log on to class.

Training can be the key to valuable upgrades that may be just around the corner, and at CWA/NETT Academy you can even earn college credit! Since CWA/NETT Academy is an approved training vendor for many union employers, most students get their tuition paid through their employer. You will want to allow your benefits provider plenty of time to be sure all your paperwork is in order for your start date, so NOW IS THE TIME!

Our courses can help prepare you for certifications like:

        A+

        NET+

        CCNA

And new technologies like VoIP, too!

Check out the new SPECIAL course offering ASP.NET co-offered by Washtech.

We’re currently developing Fiber Optic installation courses, and there’s more to come!

This could be your most important union benefit.

Visit www.cwanett.org and log in for all the details.

If you have questions, contact us at 1-877-676-4553 or via e-mail at memberetc@cwa-union.org.
