BellSouth and AT&T security are watching
all Internet usage. Be very careful and only access sites that
you need in the course of doing your job. Please DO NOT use the
company's computers to access sites for personal use. The
company can track and is tracking which sites you visit by your
CUID. This information has been used to suspend and fire
employees. Also, do not change your proxy as that just raises a
red flag to the company. We do not want to see anyone else get
suspended or fired for this. Remember Big Brother is
watching.... and waiting to pounce. Just don't get yourself
disconnected...from your job.

An electronic briefing last week on personal
use of company phones ("Company phones are for company business") may
have overshot the mark. The intent of t he briefing was to draw
attention to the issue of long-distance calls made at company
expense. But even that point may need further clarification.
Executive Directive No. 016 -which deals with
electronic communications (and, by extension, telephone use in general)
- states the company policy that "incidental personal use" may be
permitted in certain limited circumstances. A call home while on
official business out of town is an example of such a circumstance. The
main point is that employees should have an understanding with their
manager about such circumstances and the use of company lines or company
calling cards for long-distance calls.
If you have questions about ethics or business
conduct at BellSouth, you can visit the Ethics Web site at
http://ethics.bls.com/ or call the
BellSouth Ethics line at (800) 664-4231.

Just a reminder. If you have a company cell phone or pager, use it
for business purposes and follow the guidelines provided. This Is a tool
to help us in our daily work activities and should not be misused. If
you do not have the guidelines, please see your supervisor for a set of
them.
